Globalization, State, Mass Media and Human Rights

‘The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government’……………  Thomas Jefferson.

‘The 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy’.……………Alex Carey

‘States are not moral agents, people are, and can impose moral standards on powerful institutions’……………Noam Chomsky

‘When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist’……………Dom Helder Camara

Human Rights:

Human rights are universal, indivisible and interdependent. Human rights are what make us human. When we speak of the right to life, or development, or to dissent and diversity, we are speaking of tolerance. Tolerance will ensure all freedoms. Without it, we can be certain of none.

Human Rights are:
The rights that someone has simply because he or she is a human being.

•         Universal

•         Interconnected

•         Indivisible

Common Myths about Human Rights:

•           Human Rights are the same as civil rights.

•           Human Rights violations occur only in poor, foreign countries.

•           Human Rights are only concerned with violations.

•           Only adults and lawyers can understand the significance of Human Rights.

Helping other people by doing the charity is a great thing that we can do if we have the ability to do it. Actually everyone lives in this world is created to help one each other. Because we are the individual and social creature, so that we should have the thought and good intention to help other people needed our help. Helping other people needed just like the poor families, children and women, as the victim of the war and others is a good thing that we have to do as long as we have the ability to do it. When you want to do such a good thing, now just try to visit the Planetnovell.org website.

Jeopardy is the Answer No Question About It

I am a person who would do anything for anybody. I love to help out anyone that is in need, no matter what type of situation they face in their lives. However, everyone who knows me, especially my family, can tell you do not bother me while I am watching Jeopardy. Jeopardy is my favorite game show that I faithfully watch at home on my direct Tv, in my favorite recliner, drinking my pineapple soda, with my feet curled underneath me. This show challenges my mind, with their variety of subject matters. Jeopardy educates me about history, science, geography, customs of other countries, the entertainment industry and the list goes on. Also, Alex Trebek is a witty, intelligent game host, with a unique sense of humor. One day I would truly love to meet him. Anyways, I have always imagined myself being chosen by the producers to be a contestant on the show. Now that would be a dream come true for me. I am so good at guessing, when playing along with the show, that I am sure that has to account for something. Nevertheless, Jeopardy will always be my favorite game show, regardless if I get the opportunity to actually be on the show or not. Jeopardy is entertaining and educational, a combination that cannot be beat.

Fun Times – What the Current Economy May Be Telling Us

We are busy, busy, busy! It makes no difference to us if it is getting close to the weekend, or if it is still Monday – we run around like mad accomplishing things in 24 hours that should take no less than 72! Even when we are ready to drop, there are more things we need to take care of. Good for us! We are doing our best to keep on top of everything in our lives. But hold on one second, are we having fun?

Having a good time often falls behind on our list of priorities. In our daily race to accomplish more and more, we forget that one of the fundamental aspects of life is being able to enjoy the things and people around us. We tell ourselves that we will relax after that work project is done, or after the school exams are over, or after we get that paycheck, or get that new car… But the truth is, after we accomplish one thing, there are other projects already waiting, other desires to be fulfilled, new challenges to be conquered.

We say we only live once, so we spend our lives chasing after things that we think matter, often forgetting to examine why we chose certain things over others.
